Stefany Layton is a visual artist trained in painting, drawing, and art history, whose practice expands into digital and immersive media. Her work investigates the idea of expanded painting, where the pictorial image shifts from the canvas into computational and virtual space.
Working with tools such as virtual reality, she constructs inhabitable environments where drawing becomes spatial and perception becomes part of the medium. Her work explores the metaverse as a philosophical territory in constant transformation, where images do not age and meaning remains unstable.
Through projects developed across physical and virtual contexts, Layton examines the relationship between digital and material space as a direct mode of representation. Her practice is driven by an ongoing inquiry into how environments—both physical and computational—can function as mutable systems, capable of transformation, disappearance, and reconfiguration.
She has exhibited internationally in cities including New York, Miami, Melbourne, and London, within contexts of digital art and new media. She currently continues her research through virtual reality and moving image, exploring space as a speculative and evolving field.
