Stefany is a visual artist trained in painting, drawing, and art history, whose practice has progressively expanded into digital and immersive media. Her work investigates the idea of expanded painting: a field in which the pictorial image migrates from the physical canvas into computational and virtual space.
After years of working with material painting, she began translating her pictorial language into generative systems using tools such as TouchDesigner and later into virtual reality, where the body and perception became integral parts of the creative process. From there, her interest in the metaverse emerged as a surreal and philosophical space: a territory where images do not age, where meaning transforms, and where perception is constantly shifting.
In this context, she began to explore the dialogue between the digital and the physical as a direct—rather than indirect—route for representing landscape, in her project Metamorphosis of the Landscape, where she experiments with these compositional pathways, moving from digital landscapes to physical ones and from physical to digital. This project is articulated through the concept of the ideal landscape, referencing Renaissance painters who constructed imagined environments in the studio before translating them into oil paintings.
Throughout this exploration, Stefany has developed a series of concepts that run through her work, including the idea that digital environments can behave as philosophical organisms: not alive in a biological sense, but capable of transforming, mutating, disappearing, and being reborn. This inquiry has led her to deepen a continuous dialogue between the digital and the physical, where each becomes a direct extension of the other. She is currently expanding this process through virtual reality and an ongoing research project using artificial intelligence, exploring the notion of the dignity of the limit and understanding landscape as a speculative and ever-evolving field.
