“Distancia(s)” is an audiovisual piece created from drawing in virtual reality, where a series of cubic spaces host figures engaged in minimal and silent actions.
The work originates from a personal exploration of drawing as a space of introspection. These “notes” evolve into inhabitable environments, where each scene becomes a window into the experience of individuals who coexist without truly encountering one another.
Through a continuous movement, the camera travels across these spaces, observing everyday gestures that unfold in isolation. Although the figures share the same system, they remain separated, constructing a persistent sense of distance.
The sound, organic and immersive, reinforces a perception of interiority, as if the viewer were inhabiting a space without an exterior.
“Distancia(s)” reflects on the contemporary condition of inhabiting digital environments, where apparent connection coexists with multiple forms of distance, anonymity, and suspension.
“This project is part of an ongoing series exploring immersive environments.”
